I am directed to inform you, sith "ference to your letter of 22nd November 1894, 379/6”, on the

aubject of the land defences of, and Militery Rearves

at Kowloon, that His Royal Richness the Commander-in-

Chief concurs with you in consiasring that in the event

of an attack it will be necessary to nola the line of

hills ( to I. on anelosed tracing) sa oss the Kowloon

Peninsula, ano ! am to request that you will take steps

to require military reserve rimi:ts over those fill tops

and their slopes down to approximately the 220 feet

contour.

Rararding the proposel to relinquish a portion

of the litsey Reservas in the vicinity of Kowloon West

Rettory; I am to infume you that if you concur the Mill-

tery Reaarves (other than those included in the brokon

graan line on encloset Lracine) or any portion of them

that you ray wish, me bo riven up; and to point out

that cere should be taken that the Military Reserves
